The first 15 years of my career were spent in the classroom. At Columbia University's American Language Program, many of the classes are taught by teams of teachers. We planned and shared teaching materials, working together to support our students. I feel fortunate to have learned from and worked with some of the brightest people in the field.

While there, I became a Subject Matter Expert on a series of online business writing courses being developed for the University by a company called Cognitive Arts. Cognitive Arts specialized in high-end simulation-based learning design, and right from the start, I was hooked. I went to work there full-time. I learned the ins and outs of online course development and about the business of education from my colleagues at CogArts.

A few years later, I moved with a group of colleagues from CogArts and Click2Learn who formed a new company, KLi Learning, At KLi, which later became LogicBay, we built hundreds of hours of learning for companies such as CitiGroup, KPMG, Microsoft, HP and many others. Here, too, I was fortunate to work with learning designers, engineers and sales men and women who were as passionate about learning as I am.

I founded Designs2Learn to focus on projects in which I can help change the direction of education.Having designed and managed learning programs in a variety of industries, from heavy duty manufacturing to higher education; and having put two children through the public and private (online) education systems, I know that now is the time for me to give back.
